[Return of Satavali, Vinata and Sushena with no news of Sita.]
தர்ஷநார்தஂ து வைதேஹ்யாஸ்ஸர்வதஃ கபியூதபாஃ.
வ்யாதிஷ்டாஃ கபிராஜேந யதோக்தஂ ஜக்முரஞ்ஜஸா৷৷4.47.1৷৷
கபிராஜேந by the king of monkeys, வ்யாதிஷ்டாஃ commanded, கபியூதபாஃ leaders of vanara troops, யதோக்தம் as instructed, வைதேஹ்யாஃ Vaidehi’s, தர்ஷநார்தம் to look for, அஞ்ஜஸா swiftly, ஸர்வதஃ all directions, ஜக்முஃ went.
The leaders of vanara troops went fast in all directions to look for Vaidehi following the instructions of the king of vanaras.
ஸராஂஸி ஸரித காக்ஷாநாகாஷஂ நகராணி ச.
நதீதுர்காஂஸ்ததா ஷைலாந்விசிந்வந்தி ஸமந்ததஃ৷৷4.47.2৷৷
தே they, ஸராஂஸி tanks, ஸரித: கக்ஷாந் bottom of rivers, ஆகாஷம் sky, நகராணி ச and towns, ததா similarly, நதீதுர்காந் forts surrounded by rivers, ஷைலாந் mountains, ஸமந்ததஃ every where, விசிந்வந்தி looking for.
They went looking everywhere in the tanks, in the bottom of rivers, in towns, in the sky and similarly in inaccessible rivers, mountains, and forts surrounded by rivers.
ஸுக்ரீவேண ஸமாக்யாதாஸ்ஸர்வே வாநரயூதபாஃ.
ப்ரதேஷாந்ப்ரவிசிந்வந்தி ஸஷைலவநகாநநாந்৷৷4.47.3৷৷
ஸுக்ரீவேண by Sugriva, ஸமாக்யாதாஃ instructed, ஸர்வே all, வாநரயூதபாஃ vanara troop leaders, ஸஷைலவநகாநநாந் including forests and mountains, ப்ரதேஷாந் places, விசிந்வந்தி searched.
The troop leaders of the monkeys instructed by Sugriva searched in all places
including mountains and forests.
விசித்ய திவஸஂ ஸர்வே ஸீதாதிகமநே தரிதாஃ.
ஸமாயாந்தி ஸ்ம மேதிந்யாஂ நிஷாகாலேஷு வாநராஃ৷৷4.47.4৷৷
ஸர்வே all, வாநராஃ monkeys, ஸீதாதிகமநே in search of Sita, தரிதாஃ determined, திவஸம் all day, விசித்ய after searching, நிஷாகாலேஷு during nights also, மேதிந்யாம் on the ground, ஸமாயாந்தி ஸ்ம used to meet one another.
The monkeys used to search for Sita all day determinedly and at night assemble at one place.
ஸர்வர்துகமாந் தேஷேஷு வாநாராஸ்ஸபலத்ருமாந்.
ஆஸாத்ய ரஜநீஂ ஷய்யாஂ சக்ருஸ்ஸர்வேஷ்வஹஸ்ஸு தே৷৷4.47.5৷৷
தே வாநராஃ those monkeys, ஸர்வேஷு அஹஸ்ஸு all day, ஸர்வர்துகாமாந் in all seasons, ஸபலத்ருமாந் fruit-bearing trees, தேஷேஷு in countries, ஆஸாத்ய having reached, ரஜநீம் in the night, ஷய்யாம் resting place, சக்ருஃ they made.
The monkeys would search all day and by night reach for rest the branches of the trees that bear fruits in all seasons.
ததஹஃ ப்ரதமஂ கரித்வா மாஸே ப்ரஷ்ரவணஂ கதாஃ.
கபிராஜேந ஸங்கம்ய நிராஷாஃ கபியூதபாஃ৷৷4.47.6৷৷
தத் அஹஃ that day, ப்ரதமம் first, கரித்வா having passed off, மாஸே in the month, கபியூதபாஃ monkey leaders, நிராஷாஃ disappointed, ப்ரஸ்ரவணம் mountain Prasravana, கதாஃ gone, கபிராஜேந by the king of vanaras, ஸங்கம்ய after meeting.
The monkey leaders thus spent a month doing what they did daily and returning disappointed, met the monkey king on mount Prasravana.
விசித்ய து திஷஂ பூர்வாஂ யதோக்தாஂ ஸசிவைஸ்ஸஹ.
அதரிஷ்ட்வா விநதஸ்ஸீதாமாஜகாம மஹாபலஃ৷৷4.47.7৷৷
மஹாபலஃ powerful, விநதஃ Vinata, ஸசிவைஃ ஸஹ along with the ministers, யதோக்தாம் as instructed, பூர்வாஂ திஷம் eastern side, விசித்ய having searched, ஸீதாம் Sita, அதரிஷ்ட்வா not able to see, ஆஜகாம returned.
Having searched for Sita as instructed by Sugriva, powerful Vinita returned along with the ministers unable to find Sita.
உத்தராஂ ச திஷஂ ஸர்வாஂ விசித்ய ஸ மஹாகபிஃ.
ஆகதஸ்ஸஹ ஸைந்யேந வீரஷ்ஷதவலிஸ்ததா৷৷4.47.8৷৷
ததா then, வீரஃ hero, மஹாகபிஃ great monkey, ஷதபலஃ Satabala, ஸைந்யேந ஸஹ with the army, ஸர்வாம் all, உத்தராஂ திஷம் northern direction, விசித்ய after searching, ஆகதஃ came back.
Then the great monkey hero Satabali came back from the northern direction along with the army after searching in vain for Sita.
ஸுஷேணஃ பஷ்சிமா மாஷாஂ விசித்ய ஸஹ வாநரைஃ.
ஸமேத்ய மாஸே ஸம்பூர்ணே ஸுக்ரீவமுபசக்ரமே৷৷4.47.9৷৷
ஸுஷேணஃ Sushena, வாநரைஸ்ஸஹ along with the monkeys, பஷ்சிமாம் ஆஷாம் western side, விசித்ய having searched, மாஸே in a month, ஸம்பூர்ணே when completed, ஸமேத்ய after coming back, ஸுக்ரீவம் Sugriva, உபசக்ரமே reported.
Sushena searched for a full month in the western quarter along with the monkeys and returned to report to Sugriva.
தஂ ப்ரஸ்ரவணபரிஷ்டஸ்தஂ ஸமாஸாத்யாபிவாத்ய ச.
ஆஸீநஂ ஸஹ ராமேண ஸுக்ரீவமிதமப்ரவீத்৷৷4.47.10৷৷
ராமேண ஸஹ along with Rama, ஆஸீநம் seated, ப்ரஸ்ரவணபரிஷ்டஸ்தம் on the Prasravana mountain, ஸுக்ரீவம் Sugriva, ஆஸாத்ய came near, அபிவாத்ய ச and offered salutations, இதம் thus, அப்ரவீத் spoke.
Sushena came to Sugriva, seated with Rama at Prasravana mountain, offered salutations and spoke:
விசிதாஃ பர்வதாஸ்ஸர்வே வநாநி கஹநாநி ச.
நிம்நகாஸ்ஸாகராந்தாஷ்ச ஸர்வே ஜநபதாஷ்ச யே৷৷4.47.11৷৷
ஸர்வே all, பர்வதாஃ mountains, விசிதாஃ are searched, கஹநாநி inacccessible, வநாநி ச forests also, நிம்நகாஃ rivers, ஸாகராந்தாஷ்ச in the seas, யே those, ஜநபதாஷ்ச country side, ஸர்வே every where.
‘We searched for her in the mountains, in inaccessible forests, in rivers and seas and also the countryside.
குஹாஷ்ச விசிதாஸ்ஸர்வாஸ்த்வயா யாஃ பரிகீர்திதாஃ.
விசிதாஷ்ச மஹாகுல்மா லதாவிததஸந்ததாஃ৷৷4.47.12৷৷
ஸர்வாஃ all, த்வயா by your, பரிகீர்திதாஃ mentioned, யாஃ those, குஹாஃ caves, விசிதாஃ searched, லதாவிததஸந்ததாஃ filled with extensive vines, மஹாகுல்மாஃ and huge bushes, விசிதாஃ are searched.
‘We searched for her in the caves, in places filled with extensive vines and huge bushes and in all places mentioned by you.
கஹநேஷு ச தேஷேஷு துர்கேஷு விஷமேஷு ச.
ஸத்த்வாந்யதிப்ரமாணாநி விசிதாநி ஹதாநி ச৷৷4.47.13৷৷
யே சைவ கஹநா தேஷா விசிதாஸ்தே புநஃ புநஃ.
கஹநேஷு in the interiors, துர்கேஷு inaccessible, விஷமேஷு ச and unevenplaces, தேஷேஷு locations, அதிப்ரமாணாநி very huge, ஸத்த்வாநி beings, விசிதாநி searched, ஹதாநி ச killed, கஹநாஃ difficult interiors, யே those, தேஷாஃ places, தே those, புநஃ புநஃ again and again, விசிதாஃ searched.
‘We searched again and again the interior, inaccessible and uneven locations,and killed huge animals. We searched in regions difficult to penetrate.
உதாரஸத்த்வாபிஜநோ மஹாத்மா
ஸ மைதிலீஂ த்ரக்ஷ்யதி வாநரேந்த்ரஃ.
திஷஂ து யாமேவ கதா து ஸீதா
தாமாஸ்திதோவாயுஸுதோ ஹநூமாந்৷৷4.47.14৷৷
வாநரேந்த்ர O king of monkeys, உதாரஸத்த்வாபிஜநஃ exhalted by strength and birth, ஸஃ that, மஹாத்மா great person, மைதிலீம் Maithili, த்ரக்ஷ்யதி will see, ஸீதா sita, யாம் ஏவ whichever, திஷம் direction, கதா is taken, தாம் that, வாயுஸுதஃ son of the Wind-god, ஹநுமாந் Hanuman, ஆஸ்திதஃ he has set out.
‘O king of monkeys! we hope, his exhalted highness, the mighty vanara, son of the Wind-god, Hanuman has gone in the direction in which Maithili has been carried off. He alone will find Sita and come back.’
