As for Sankalpam, we should do do the same as what we do while in India with the concurrence of Asmad Acharyan.
We understand that Srirangam Srimad Andavan also holds the same view.
Regarding location
“Meru mountain’ is far above Bhoolokam and the Western geographical reference to North Pole, South Pole etc have no relevance here nor the longitude and latitude shown in Western geographical maps – to say whether a particular location is in “Prachhee dig baagE’ or “Paschima dig baagE” as some people recite.
Regarding time
Tithi, Vaara, Nakshatra, Yoga and KaraNa – the 5 angas of Panchnagam are to be calculated with reference to the precise moment of Sunrise and Sunset on any given day in any given place.
If an event is on say, Monday in India, we have to observe it on the same Monday whether in Scotland or New Zealand.
The local timings of Sunrise and Sunset in any specific location is published in NASA website and in all Newspapers and blared forth in the weather channels.
Otherwise, we will be faced with an intriguing situation.
For example, if Sri Jayanthi is to be celebrated in India on a Monday midnight, the same has to be observed on the same Monday midnight as obtains here
and NOT on the midday of the previous day or the next day or in the midnight of such (other) days.
Similarly, Lord Nrisimha is said to have emerged from the pillar on an evening.
By adjusting for time difference, we cannot observe Nrisimha Jayanthi on the morning of that day or previous day or the next day!
If those who publish Panchangams for different locations adjusting for time differences, they do so based on inputs from people from here and we cannot blame the Scholars in India.
As the saying goes “Garbage in, Garbage out”
